We are working with an "Outstanding" Ofsted-rated mainstream school in Stratford who are currently looking to recruit a learning support assistant to start ASAP on a permanent contract on a full-time basis, Monday to Friday.

You will be expected to work on a 1:1 basis with specific students with diagnoses of autism, assisting them with their class work in a range of subjects from key stage 3 to GCSE and A-level. Provide support, in class, to ensure students who have barriers to learning are able to access the curriculum and are able to work independently and within groups to make progress. Help plan lessons with teachers and carry out small group teaching activities, providing differentiated resources or supporting the teacher by pre-teaching or re-explaining tasks, instructions or activities. You will be monitoring the behaviour and progress of small groups working on a supported curriculum and also assisting statemented students with their work in mainstream classes, under the instruction of the class teacher. This will be working with the SENCo (special educational needs coordinator), Inclusion manager, assisting pupils of a range ages and abilities from Key Stage 3 to 5, ensuring that students' needs are met and that students exhibiting challenging behaviour have their needs addressed in order for them to make progress. You will liaise with outside agencies where necessary to support learning - e.g. to organise for a student to be referred to Child and Family Consultation Service / Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services or to liaise on behalf of the school with the Educational psychologist or Speech and language therapist (SaLT).

This role would be perfect for graduates interested in pursuing a PGCE or Teach First program in the future, who are looking to increase their experience working in schools.
