Software Engineer (Junior) needed for defence and aerospace solutions company based in Bristol who are looking to employ a Software Engineer (Junior) with knowledge of software programming and an eagerness to learn and interest in all aspects of automation system development.

Key Responsibilities of the Software Engineer (Junior)

  • To work on all aspects of IPMS automation for electrical, propulsion, ancillary (fluid) and auxiliary systems on naval and commercial platforms
  • To develop graphical interfaces, control sequences and configurable software components
  • To participate in the full software lifecycle for control systems software
  • To use both standard tools and proprietary software packages under the direction of senior software engineers
  • To produce and maintain software documentation ensuring full traceability of the software throughout the lifecycle
  • To participate in the full software lifecycle for control systems software adhering to company process and procedure
  • Participate in reviews of software code, documentation and contractual internal/external design reviews.
  • To agree jointly with the Software & Integration Manager or delegated representative allocated tasks and timescales in accordance with company standards

What you need to be the successful Software Engineer (Junior):

In order to be the successful Software Engineer (Junior) and have a chance to gain such an exciting opportunity you will ideally need to have the following:

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering related discipline
  • Familiarity with software programming preferred
  • 1-2 years' experience with Object Oriented Programming
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent PC skills for documents, spreadsheets and databases
  • Eagerness to learn and interest in all aspects of automation system development
  • Good reporting and communication skills
