Our client has an immediate vacancy for an enthusiastic Geotechnical Engineer to join the established and growing team based in the Nottingham area.

Key duties and responsibilities include:
Geotechnical analysis and design using empirical and analytical methods for underground structures, earthworks, foundations, slopes, temporary and permanent works
Mentoring / developing team members
Geo-mechanical Numerical Modelling
Preparation and checking of geotechnical design calculations
Computer based Finite element and analytical engineering modelling
Development of novel design solutions and engineering calculations from first principles
Producing and checking design reports and presentations
Liaising with clients, subcontractors and other external design teams
Working in a collaborative way, managing junior/intermediate staff design tasks and delegating effectively, to achieve project goals and meet deadlines as part of the Underground Infrastructure Division
Project Management, business development activities, proposals and other related administrative tasks
Project based travel and site work, working away both in the UK and internationally. The frequency and duration of this will depend on business and client need
Displaying a 'safety first' attitude in line with an interdependent health and safety culture, promoting positive health and safety, raising safety issues through the appropriate channels and adhering to health and safety policy and procedures

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Degree in a relevant subject e.g. Civil / Mining Engineering, Engineering Geology, MEng/MSc in relevant Geotechnical / Geomechanical field
Experience in numerical modelling software for Geotechnical analysisartered
Ability to work in a collaborative manner as part of a team
Flexibility and adaptability
Analytical approach to problem-solving
A genuine enthusiasm for the role, displaying a willingness to learn and develop themselves and others
Excellent organisational ability and time management skills
Strong understanding of geotechnical principles
Understanding of engineering drawings and the ability to manipulate CAD drawings;
Excellent verbal and written English
Strong technical writing ability and reporting skills - ability to produce and critically review deliverables
Ability to make decisions and display initiative
Good organisational ability and time management skills - ability to deliver to time and budget
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Flexibility, willingness and ability to travel both locally and internationally.
